A great strength the small group leaders will find helpful is the dialogue. The curriculum gives the leaders just enough to say but not too much. Its obvious that great conversations will take place with the kids - and that component of relationship building is so key to successfully sharing Jesus' love with them.

When VBS ends every summer - Children's ministry leaders often struggle with follow up and knowing we fall short in being able to provide ongoing encouragement and influence in the kids' lives. The best part of all of this “science” stuff is that you don’t have to have a PhD. to understand it. He provides lots of explanations and ideas of how you can make this happen.

The Basic Elements kit focuses on the BASIC’s of the Faith Believe, Ask, Serve, Impact, Celebrate! Each day’s lesson plans present a solid gospel message which is different from most kits where the gospel is really only given on Thursday. If you’re like me, (yes, I’m old school) I believe you should present the gospel each day and allow God to decide when a child takes that step of faith.

If you’re not a VBS craft fan like me, you’ll be happy to know there are NO CRAFTS!! (craft haters unite, LOL!) Josh has pulled together some awesome ideas that will have even the men in the church volunteering to work in the science projects area. The kids in this rotation will get to build a rocket that they actually get to launch! Some really cool and totally safe, chemical reactions, along with a catapult! Trust me the kids will love this and so will the volunteers! Josh even has created videos that will step by step teach how to do each project so that those who are leading don’t have to worry about how to explain the projects.

Preschoolers with love this too, Josh did a great job setting up the preschool ministry to have an amazing time too! Their activities and lessons are geared just of them and they don’t miss out on any of the cool factors.

Each element of the BASICS VBS kit is well thought out and has a reason for being a part of the kit. The music is fun, and totally scripture based, so if you want kids to learn God’s word, it will be all over the music!
